Associations frequently ban delinquent residents from common amenities such as pools, gyms and the like but have you considered shutting off cable or internet service?   If your condominium association provides cable/internet bundles and adds the costs to assessments, this may be a good tool to encourage delinquent residents to pay up. If you are considering such a tool you’ll want to consider the cost of effectuating the shut off with the cable/internet company and make sure you update your collection policy to include this as one of the remedies the association may choose in the event of a delinquency.

According to the March 1, 2011, edition of the Orlando Sentinel, the Florida legislation is even considering legislation that could specifically grant Florida associations the right to cut off cable and internet service of residents who are 90 days overdue.
