Now that many managers have acquired the CAM license through DORA, they are getting ready to jump through their next hurdle: eight hours of continuing education before renewal of the CAM licenses in June 2016. But what many managers do not realize is they have already obtained their 8 hours of continuing education credits for the 2015 – 2016 license term.

Rule B-1 of the Manager Licensing Rules provides the following:

Completion of the pre-licensing credentials in the same initial licensing period in which the license was approved will satisfy the continuing education requirements in that initial licensing period.

Altitude Community Law confirmed with DORA the above provision applies to the 2015 – 2016 initial licensing period.  What does that mean for you?  It means you have met your continuing education requirements for the 2015 – 2016 period and do not have to take continuing education credits before July 2016.  CAMs will be required to complete eight credit hours of continuing education when applying for their license renewals in 2017.  So take a deep breath for now and enjoy another few months of freedom!
