Awards shows, industry awards, employer awards. We all like to receive awards. I recently read an article about individuals who received a New Vision Award for implementing best practices in community association management. That got me thinking about what best practices an association would need to qualify for a New Vision Award. The Community Association Institute lists 9 publications directed at association best practices:
- Financial Operations
- Governance, Resident Involvement and Conflict Resolution
- Community Harmony/Spirit/Involvement
- Strategic Planning
- Reserve Studies/Management
- Transition (from developer to homeowner control)
- Energy Efficiency
- Community Security
- Disaster Preparedness and management
If you association read and implemented the best of these best practices would your community be better? Would it qualify for a New Vision Award or any award? I bet it would! I challenge you as board members, working with your business partners to strive to make your community award-worthy.
