On September 16th over 90 participants gathered for an afternoon of can-sculpting fun, with live music, drinks and excellent company at Altitude Community Law’s 2nd Annual Community Can-Can Event. This year’s canned food drive/sculpture competition included six Colorado community association management companies, whose teams donated their time, energy and money, to help contribute to the fight against hunger by creating some downright amazing works of canned sculpture art!
Partnering with Altitude Community Law to give back to the community were CMA, Hammersmith, JSN, MSI, Overlook and TMMC (won most cans – a whopping 3776.) Check out our Community Can-Can Website and/or our Facebook page for pics of the event and all the sculptures.
Team MSI, LLC won three awards (Best Team Spirit, Most Creative Sculpture, Best Overall Sculpture). Here’s a pic of their winning sculpture.
This is a particularly satisfying win for MSI, as last year their sculpture imploded, requiring them to rebuild an entirely new sculpture in the last 30 minutes of the competition!
The event resulted in 8016 lbs of food (and more than 12,000 cans!) being donated to the Food Bank of the Rockies, which was about 2000 lbs more than last year . Janie Gianotsos, Director of Community Relations with Food Bank of the Rockies said, “Every dollar, can, and hour helps us help those in need and we thank Altitude Community Law for their contribution in helping us do that.”
We are deeply grateful to all who participated in the event, from the donators, to the can-collectors, to the builders and to everyone else who gave up their time, money, and energy to make this event successful and to help the lives of Colorado families everywhere. We are looking forward to next year being a greater and grander event, and blowing 2011 numbers out of the water!!
