We, at Altitude Community Law, are so very proud to announce this year’s 5th Annual Community Can-Can!  Come join us on Friday, September 12th, for an afternoon of food, fun, and frivolity as we gather together for a CANtastic competition!

Uttering the phrase “Community Can-Can” always sparks something deep inside me that grows increasingly and expectantly until the main event.  Why?  Because it’s the one day of the year that we focus on giving back. Giving back through our charity; giving back through our creativity; giving back by truly caring for our fellow Coloradoans.  And we have a TON of FUN doing it.  On this day we’re not worried about work, or bills, or our own personal trials. On this day we worry about one thing only….will our canned sculpture turn out as fabulous in reality as it did in our heads??

So what IS the Community Can-Can?  Simply put, it’s an annual canned food drive and sculpture competition.  Every year Altitude Community Law partners with several management companies across Colorado in a grand team effort to stomp out hunger.

So what do you have to do?

1. Gather cans
2. Haul them to our parking lot
3. Build a sculpture with your cans

And what do you get in return?

1. Food
2. Fun
3. Camaraderie
4. A chance to be creative and to compete for a great cause
5. A sense of achievement that’s well worth the time it takes to solicit donations and gather cans

What better way to spend a Friday afternoon?

Last year we donated a total of 20,817 pounds of food and additional cash donations, all of which were gifted to the Food Bank of the Rockies.  This enabled the Food Bank to provide more than 19,000 meals to families across Colorado. To date, we have collected 53,422 pounds of food!!

So what’s in store for 2014?  If the prior years are any indication of what’s to come, it will be impressive indeed.  We certainly have some talented and creative people in our industry!  Over the years we’ve seen everything from gumball machines to giant stilettos, the house from UP and the minions from Despicable Me. Castles, Corona bottles, fire hydrants, a giant scrumptious cupcake, and many, many more.

And, if you’re feeling pretty creative, you can dress up your sculpture (or just simply dress up, give me a reason to put on a costume and I’m there) with a presentation, skit, dance, whatever floats your boat.  We’ve seen a talent show, a Grease-themed production, a boxing skit…I can’t wait to see what this year brings!
