The “Land Use” Bill didn’t make it. Some of you may be pleased by this, and others perhaps won’t be. Regardless of our personal feelings on the matter, Senate Bill 213 was effectively killed yesterday after the Chamber failed to take up the measure prior to the end of the 2023 lawmaking term. In the event you just got back from an extended vacay and have no idea what SB213 is, please allow me to offer a brief description: this is the bill that would have allowed accessory-dwelling units, multifamily housing of up to six units, and duplexes and triplexes on residentially zoned land in cities and towns across the state, with its purpose being to assist Colorado’s ever growing population with more affordable housing options (as I mentioned, this is a brief description – the bill was 105 pages).
