People generally agree that assisted living facilities and sober living facilities are good things . . . just not in their neighborhoods.   As it turns out, however, these types of facilities fall under the protection of the fair housing laws and treated as “single family residences”.  Does this mean associations have to allow any type of “assistance” facility in the community?  Is there nothing that can be done?  Plan on attending this class for an in-depth look at various businesses that may or may not be protected by fair housing laws and how/whether you can do anything about them moving into and running within your community.
