Just when you think you’ve seen it all, you realize you have not! We’ve all heard of the traditional Seeing Eye Dog and the certified assistance animals, but it’s a whole different world out there when it comes to emotional/comfort animals. It’s one thing to have an emotional assistance dog or cat, but when residents start claiming they need their emotional assistance chickens, groundhogs, and pigs, one starts to wonder just how far associations are required to let this go? This session will explore these and other scenarios and review real situations pertaining to this topic, as well as review lawsuits on this topic and how they turned out. Perhaps this will give us some direction on this issue.
This class is approved for 2 hours of CAM Continuing Education Credit and 2 hours of CMCA Credit.
