No matter how many times you attend, conduct, or call meetings, there consistently seem to be questions that arise. Some questions pertain to procedural issues such as check-in and counting proxies that have been reassigned, while others may pertain to statutory requirements such as existence of quorum if people leave and the requisite number of votes needed to pass a proposed action. Other questions may focus on parliamentary procedure such as whether a motion may be made from the floor. This class will review some common and uncommon meeting requirements that create questions and problems during both board and membership meetings and provide you with tools to address these questions when/if they come up so the meeting is not paralyzed or later ruled invalid. Some of the issues to be covered in this class include legal requirements for meeting notices, quorums, motions, voting, and other issues that may arise before, during, and after meetings.
This class is approved for 2 hours of CAM Continuing Education Credit and 2 hours of CMCA Credit.
