Does your community use committees? If so, are these committees specifically set forth in your governing documents or did the board create them? Either way, how do your committee members know their duties and limitations? All too often, committees are created where the committee members have no clue what they have authority to do and where their limitations lie. This tends to give rise to clashes between committee members and board members. Believe it or not, there is a right way and a wrong way to create and operate committees.
