In a press release issued this week, the Colorado HOA Forum, an advocacy group, challenged legislators to:

  1. Add enforcement and penalty provisions in CCIOA for non-compliance by associations;
  2. Require out-of-court, binding dispute resolution for most association/owner disputes;
  3. Limit the fees and costs that can be added to delinquent association debt; and
  4. License and regulate property management companies.

These are some of the same issues that this group presented to legislators during the town hall meeting held in last October.  Whether you are a manager, board member or business partner, now is the time to be aware of and participate in our legislative process if you have feelings or opinions on any of these topics. You can do so by contacting your state representatives or participating in the Colorado Legislative Action Committee of CAI.  We’d also love to hear your thoughts and opinions.
